Every day at AlmaVia of Camarillo, dedicated team members strive to ensure the health, safety and happiness of residents. Please meet four of our recent Employees of the Week, individuals who go above and beyond in their service to our residents.
Josie Santos is a Resident Care Assistant in Memory Care. Josie has been with AVC for two years and has become an integral part of the Memory Care team. Always patient, positive and caring, she honors every resident’s dignity, and she has a special knack for working with older adults. If Josie could travel anywhere across the globe, she’d love to go to Africa to care for that continent’s impoverished children.
What does it mean to live AVC’s Core Value of Dignity? By treating every resident with honor, Resident Care Assistant Ann Avalos provides the ideal example. Ann encourages residents to move at their own pace, and she communicates in a respectful manner that shows a courteous regard for each individual’s worth. Ann loves interacting with residents and creates a joyous atmosphere with her great sense of humor, winning smile and willing heart. Outside AVC, Ann loves to spend time hiking or simply hanging out with her family and children.
Mini Santiago is in her 12th year with AVC and is a Caregiver in the Memory Care setting. Mini’s love for her job and the residents shows, whether she’s interacting with residents individually or leading group activities. She gets to know each resident as a unique individual, and when someone passes from this world, she creates a special memorial display to honor that person. Mini is always ready to help other team members with the goal of providing exceptional care. When she’s not working, Mini enjoys spending time on her home and garden, and she loves dining out on Italian cuisine or seafood.
Whatever the job, Maintenance Technician Fermin Melendez gets it done. As a jack of all trades, Fermin works with every department within AVC, and he develops personal relationships with residents as he provides maintenance services for their apartments. With a different set of tasks to complete each day, Fermin says his work stays interesting. Outside of the community, Fermin enjoys spending time with his wife and four sons, whether hiking or seeing movies.
