ALAMEDA, CA – Elder Care Alliance, a non-profit senior living and aging organization, has launched an Alameda Chapter of Aging2.0.

The new chapter is tasked with accelerating local, aging-focused innovation by providing a networking and collaboration hub for inventors, researchers, senior living providers, aging experts, older adults, investors and other interested parties. The chapter will also focus on identifying aging-related cutting-edge ideas to support the Aging2.0 Grand Challenges call to action.

Rosemary Jordan, vice president of business development and strategy at Elder Care Alliance, will serve as ambassador of the Alameda chapter. In this role, she will be responsible for leadership, strategic planning, recruiting a core chapter team and fostering collaboration. Serving as deputy ambassador will be Dr. Erin Partridge, experiential researcher-in-residence at Elder Care Alliance.

“Joining the Aging2.0 collaborative community is a natural fit for ECA,” said Jordan. “Our mission includes an explicit calling to serve and enrich older adults and those who care for them through education and innovation…and Aging2.0 provides a platform and tools to assist us in achieving greater mission impact in the East Bay region.”

The Aging2.0 Alameda Chapter has set Oct. 16 as the date of its inaugural event that will feature a discussion of the role of social robots in the aging space. Led by Dr. Partridge, the event will feature a summary of recently completed research followed by a panel discussion. The event will take place at the Support Center in Alameda at 1301 Marina Village Parkway, Suite 210, Alameda, California 94501. Dr. Partridge said hosting the salon-like talks at the Alameda Chapter will enable “a conversation about technology that features the voices of older adults themselves” and support more opportunities for exploration of social impact and holistic wellness benefits from technology and collaboration in aging.

“We’re excited to add another chapter to our growing global network,” said Brittany Weinberg, director of Community Engagement at Aging2.0. “With Rosemary, Dr. Partridge and Alameda on board, we certainly have strong allies in our mission to address the biggest challenges and opportunities in the aging space.
