Alameda, CA – August 11th, 2025 — Elder Care Alliance (ECA), a mission-driven nonprofit serving older adults across California, today announced that Alegre Home Care will join the organization. The strategic affiliation underscores ECA’s commitment to growing their impact and is guided by aligned values, shared dedication to inclusive practices, and similar people-first cultures. This affiliation expands the reach of Elder Care Alliance, strengthening its footprint in California and its capacity to meet the growing demand for home-based care.
Alegre’s Founder and CEO, Charles Symes will remain in place to help with the ownership transition and will serve as Home Care Consultant to the broader organization, thereafter, preserving Alegre’s leadership stability and operational integrity. “This affiliation is a meaningful step forward,” says Symes. “Over time, as I’ve come to know the people behind this long-standing nonprofit, I have been moved by how we share similar values of innovation, inclusion, affordability, connection, wellness, and compassion.”
The Braff Group served as the exclusive financial advisor for Alegre Care and was instrumental in putting this strategic affiliation together.
The Alegre Home Care team brings more than two decades of experience providing compassionate, in-home support to a wide range of individuals, with a deep commitment to inclusion and serving diverse communities across Northern California. With a team of more than 400 caregivers, Alegre has become one of the region’s most trusted providers of relationship-based, culturally aware homecare services and is currently providing more than 300,000 care hours a year for older adults in Northern California.
For Alegre’s clients and team members, the transition will be seamless, with no immediate changes to day-to-day operations. Services will continue uninterrupted with the same trusted staff, supported by a larger, mission-aligned nonprofit network.
The affiliation comes at a time of accelerating demand for homecare. Over 90% of Americans aged 65+ say they want to age in place, and the number of older adults who need long-term, home-based support is rapidly increasing. Researchers predict the size of the market will triple in the next ten years, exceeding over $800 billion.
