If you grew up prior to the 1980s, you probably remember the one and only Bert Parks crooning “There she is, Miss America” as he crowned a lucky winner among the ladies vying for the title. You may have even dreamed of winning that crown yourself.
Recently at AlmaVia of Camarillo, 12 lovely ladies participated in a “Grandmas in Tiaras” fashion show and talent competition. The prizes? A sparkling tiara and a relaxing spa day.
The day included several winners, including Colleen Robinson as Miss Gardens. Mary Jo Carson won as Miss AlmaVia, and Chris Siegfried took home the Miss Glam-Ma crown for her beautiful, handmade quilt.
The guest judge was Miss Senior Ventura County 2017 Judith Talbot, and musical host Steve Waddington entertained the audience with the vocal stylings of Dean Martin.
As you can see in the photos, all of the contestants were lovely, and the audience and participants alike had a fantastic time. The Grandmas in Tiaras event may not have been in Atlantic City — as the famous song says — but the participants were definitely ideal!
