Our Restaurant-Quality Assisted Living Dietary Program

All four Elder Care Alliance communities offer assisted living dietary programs that are nutritious and delicious. Dining options for meals are available in beautifully appointed, restaurant-style dining rooms. Well-balanced snacks and beverages are provided throughout the day. Private dining spaces are also available for residents to enjoy a meal or an event with family and friends.

Senior Nutrition Focused on Taste, Quality, and Freshness

Our experienced culinary service teams create menus that emphasize taste, quality, and freshness — and focus on lean protein, whole grains, vegetables, and fruit — while also accommodating most dietary needs. In addition, a registered dietitian supports our dining programs across all communities, ensuring our residents eat well and have the proper assistance if needed.

A Research-Based Senior Dietary Program

Our culinary program leans on dietary guidelines recommended in the Mediterranean Diet. This evidence-based diet consists of food commonly consumed in the Mediterranean, promoting health and preventing chronic disease. This diet consists of many vegetables, fruits, fish, and whole grains while largely staying away from dairy or red meat. While this diet plan is healthy for individuals of any age, it is considered one of the best nutritional plans for older adults.

In addition to the Mediterranean Diet, our assisted living meals also leverage the MIND Diet. This evidence-based diet combines the Mediterranean diet with the Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) Diet.

Combine these approaches to get the Mediterranean-DASH Intervention for Neurodegenerative Delay (MIND program). The MIND diet takes foods from both diet plans that promote brain health to create a dining plan that has been scientifically proven to lower blood pressure, reduce the risk of heart disease and diabetes, and improve brain function to help prevent dementia.

We toured AlmaVia of San Francisco, which is a much larger community. They have various amenities and activities to offer, because they have independent living, assisted living, memory care, and hospice. They cover all levels of care. We’ve tried the food several times and I’d definitely rate them very high.Mary C.AlmaVia of San Francisco

Mercy Retirement & Care Center is nice, bright, light, and airy. The rooms are nice, and they have regular religious services. They have a nice cafeteria where they have large gatherings. Every month, they have a special event with entertainment. The food was very good. It was a Cinco de Mayo celebration when I was there, and they had delicious Mexican food. The staff was very good.Helen O.Mercy Retirement & Care Center
