Team Member Spotlight: Reyna Flores

Every month we invite one of our team members to sit down with us and tell us more about their journey to Elder Care Alliance, their role now, and their insights into older adult care. We are excited to share the expertise and knowledge of our many team members whom every day come to work and help our residents live their best lives today with us.

Today we welcome Reyna Flores, Mercy Care Center Medical Records Keeper.

Team Member Spotlight: Reyna Flores, Medical Records Keeper

Us: Hi Reyna, tell us a little about your background and role at Elder Care Alliance.

Reyna: I am the Medical Records Keeper at Mercy Retirement and Care Center’s Skilled Nursing facility, also known as the Mercy Care Center. I’ve worked here for close to 24 years. I am actually one of the longest-tenured team members in the Care Center.

Us: How does your work benefit residents at Elder Care Alliance communities?

Reyna: I organize and audit our residents’ electronic and paper medical records. I make sure they are complete, well-maintained, and secure. Among other things, this keeps residents’ privacy protected and their records to support the work of the doctors, nurses, CNAs and others who provide care for them.

Us: Tell us more about a specific feature of your job/duties and what residents can expect to gain from that.

Reyna: If the resident or their responsible party requests a copy of their medical records, I can ensure they receive it accurately and timely. And, because I audit these records regularly, I play an essential role in helping ensure that we maintain the high quality of resident care we aim for to meet their healthcare needs best.

Us: What is one of your favorite memories/experiences working at Elder Care Alliance?

Reyna: I have always felt like Mercy was my second home. I enjoy working with the CNAs and nurses and their fun and upbeat manner when we interact about Care Center business or just in passing. It makes me happy.

Us: What is the greatest reward that your role at Elder Care Alliance brings?

Reyna: I take pride in my work and feel good about my high standards.

Us: Can you share any insights into new programs/menus/etc. you are planning for the future?

Reyna: Because of the changes in staffing and various assignments over time, I look forward to more cohesiveness in our work together between all departments. I have seen much change at the Care Center over the years, but I am positive the future is great here.
